The Royal Hotel Meandarra has twelve air-conditioned upstairs rooms, each opening straight onto the wraparound veranda. Two shared bathrooms service the floor, and there is a guest dining area with a television, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Parking is free, and there is room out the front for a caravan, a ute and trailer or a truck. Dogs are welcome — just mention it when you ring. Downstairs you will find a proper country feed, seven beers on tap and a bottle shop. Rooms are booked by phone on 07 4665 6183. We are at 3 Sara Street, Meandarra, on the Western Downs.
